Standard 1: Scientific and Theoretical Knowledge
Element 1.2: Describe and apply motor learning and psychological/behavioral theory related to skillful movement, physical activity, and fitness
Artifact: Motor Behavior Lab "Tic Tac Pong"
Date:Fall 2010
Reflection: The "Tic Tac Pong" Lab in Motor Behavior class was a designing learning experience using two concepts. The first concept was short duration work periods using high eneregy, and the second concept was adequate rest levels. This lab was used to help break down the game of "Tic Tac Pong" into part practice and whole practice. The part practice technique was used to help the student practice their accuracy ability and allow them to work towards a short term goal. The whole practice technique was used for the student to get an actual feel for the "Minute to Win it" actual game. This activity/game is important because the game can be done to encourage team work, communication, as well as plan for different strategies. This lab also demonstrated a different way to play the game of tic tac toe.

Element 1.3: Describe and apply motor development theory and principles related to skillful movement, physical activity, and fitness.
Artifact: Motor Development Lab 4
Date: Spring 2012
Reflection: Motor Development Lab 4 was to observe students as they performed the overhand throwing skill. This artifact meets standard I because the goal during this lesson was to see how well a child could throw the ball, I had to complete a checklist on how well or horrible they could throw. The students used different shapes and size yarn balls in order to complete this task. This observation helped me determine weather the child was in the initial, elementary or mature learning stage for the skill. This is a critical element as a Physical Educator because it is important as an educator to be able to describe and apply theories of principles related to skillful movements as well as it is to break down and demonstrate games and correct the elements of each movement skill.
